Assessment and Care Management

CST nurses evaluate each patient’s medical condition and offer cancer-related nursing care, such as: monitoring blood pressure and weight, checking surgical wounds, helping patients manage side effects such as nausea and fatigue, etc. Nurses also talk with patients’ doctors and other health care providers, as needed, so that patients receive comprehensive, coordinated services.

Pain and Side Effects Management

CST nurses offer information and guidance on controlling side effects of the cancer diagnosis and treatment. CST was the first agency to partner with Anne Marie Paolucci, breast cancer survivor and founder of Chemo Comfort, for the distribution of Chemo Comfort Kits to cancer patients. This free kit contains teas to combat nausea, warm socks, a soft cap to cover your head, items for oral care, a book entitled “Living Well with Cancer,” a blank book for recording feelings and dates, and a CD of soothing music for relaxation. Also included is a listing of helpful hints that Anne Marie passes along as suggestions.

Thanks to Chemo Comfort, we offer this kit to patients for free.chemocomfort_logo
